Child Care Resources, under the direction of the DSSAB directly operates five licensed, centre-based programs which provide a safe, secure, healthy and enriching early learning environment for young children.

Philosophy
Through the guidance of qualified Early Childhood Educators, E.C.E.s and using components of High/Scope Curriculum, children are exposed to key experiences that stimulate curiosity, initiative and independence.
Children are:

• exposed to learning situations that enhance and stimulate their curiosity, initiative and independence.
• given equal opportunity for positive and stimulating participation in the program.
• treated with respect and acceptance as individuals through positive adult-child interactions.
• provided with opportunities to make choices and decisions and practice problem solving.
• encouraged to interact with other children to expand social and communication skills and encourage positive and caring relationships.
• provided with an active learning environment through play which enhances their physical, intellectual, creative, emotional and social well being.

Play is an important part of a child’s development.  Presenting children with a variety of experiences appropriate to their development encourages positive self-esteem and confidence.  A consistent daily routine that encompasses a “plan-do-review” sequence enables children to express their intentions, carry them out and reflect on what they have done. Children have an opportunity to play alone or work together in small and large groups.
